Our story & values

Our Story:

My journey first started back in 2021, when I made a button up as a chrissy gift to my boyfriend (now husband). I wasn't working much due to covid restrictions, and my nan had just gifted me a mini travel sewing machine! I spent all year falling in love with sewing and soon my ambitions and dreams grew into an idea of running a slow, purposeful, handmade clothing brand. In May 2023 I got married, yay, and spent the rest of the year enjoying all that marriage brought. In Feb 2024 I officially launched and I'm excited for where this will take me! Thank you for journeying along with me and I'm excited to grow and learn together!

Our Values:

WE care about YOU! When an order comes through, we check your name, where you are ordering from, and do a little happy dance to celebrate! It sounds funny, but as a small business we are so grateful that you are supporting our dream! This also means, that we want to make the best garment we can for you. We understand that fashion can sometimes be super tricky when it comes to sizing, and our garments are designed with that in mind. You will notice that in most, if not all, of our garments have easily adjustable sections to them. We stick to elastic waist bands, drawstrings, loose fitting styles and stretchy fabrics when making our clothes. This is so you can adjust the garment to fit you best!!

Our Mission:

At Ellen, we not only want to look after you with providing you with ethical, quality clothing, we want to look after those who may not ever have the chance to buy their own clothing. That is why we are so excited to announce that, we will be donating a percentage of every sale we make at Ellen to the nonprofit ‘Destiny Rescue’.

Destiny Rescue’s work is to rescue children who are human trafficked. They not only rescue the children, but they give these children shelter, food, trauma resilience training, skills training to be able to go on and live without the fear of being trafficked again.

Our Sustainability Practices:

Our Label’s goal is to create timeless pieces of clothing that you love and hopefully will wear forever. We hand make all garments as you order them, which means that we don’t have extra fabric or garments that will potentially go to waste. It also means each piece is made with love specifically for you. We source our fabric from places that are known for having the highest quality fabric made sustainably, in the most ethical environment. This includes taking care in saving water and electricity, not using child labor, paying proper wages and having strict occupational health and safety procedures. Further, almost all our fabrics (e.g. linen and cotton) are made from natural materials, meaning they will break down at the end of its life cycle and will not harm the environment, they are also OEKO-Tex certified, meaning they have been tested for harmful chemicals.
